From Twilight to Light: The Sunlit Path, Talk 10: ‘Marriage and Inner Progress’

AuroYouth has been conducting a series of talks to help youth discuss and discover issues prevalent in recent times. Titled “From Twilight to light – The Sunlit Path”, these sessions are meant to provide the youth with inner strength and spiritual outlook that will help them in navigating through life.

In the tenth talk of the series, Lakshmi Jyothi spoke with youth on the topic “Marriage and Inner Progress” on August 23, 2020.

Marriage is one of the most important topics discussed among Youth as there is a conception that it will decide how life will unfurl in future stages of life.

To start with the basics, Jyothi told us what is Inner Progress towards which we should be aspiring. Inner progress comprises Self-Awareness and Self-Mastery. Next, to stir up the participants, she asked the Youth, “Why do you want to marry”? This question post the introduction on Inner Progress led participants to think deeply about it and answer.

Next Jyothi touched upon ‘Why people marry’ and broke some misconceptions around ‘Whom’ to marry.

Finally we discussed The Mother’s quote for couples. It defines the different parts of the personality of the couples that they should aspire to put in harmony with each other’s. Below, each part is defined in a very brief way

• Part 1 - Unity of Physical Lives and Material Interests
• Part 2 - Unity of sensations and aesthetics
• Part 3 - Unity of deeper feelings
• Part 4 - Unity of minds and harmony in thoughts
• Part 5 - Unity of the deepest part of ourselves, the Truth of our personalities

Finally, Jyothi shared some actionable tips for different stages of marriage which can be vital for Inner Progress in marriage.
