Three-day Experiential Workshop for Teachers 

The Rudrapur branch of Sri Aurobindo Society organized a three-day experiential workshop for teachers on June 26, 27 and 28, 2018, at Mom’s Pride School and Sri Aurobindo Society at Kashipur Road in Rudrapur. The workshop’s theme was ‘Fivefold Education in the light of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother’.

Dr. Prabhjot Kulkarni, Former Principal, M.V. College of Education (University of Delhi), conducted the workshop covering topics ranging from ‘Silencing the Mind’, ‘Aim of Life’, ‘Need of Integral Education’ to the significance and role of Psychic Education, Physical, Vital, Mental parts of the being and their education. Most parts were dealt through reflective exercises and creative activities. 

Activities such as ‘The Name Game’, My Quality of Nature’, ‘The Flower Game (spiritual significance of flowers according to the Mother)’ were part of the workshop. A number of games were also taken up along with certain spiritual exercises based on CARDS.

Feedback

Though the entire workshop was liked by all the teachers and the school principal, some activities especially touched them deeply.

This workshop was the first experience of its kind for all the participating teachers. They look forward to more such interventions by Sri Aurobindo Society. Due to constraint of time, a number of art and craft activities were assigned as take-home assignments.

Four-day Workshop for Village Children 

Creative Uttarakhand (NGO) in collaboration with Sri Aurobindo Society, Rudrapur branch organized a four-day workshop on ‘Practical Approach to Learning Science’ at Sri Aurobindo Society, Kashipur Road, for children from rural areas. 

The workshop conducted by Mr. Vijay Pal and team on June 22, 23, 24 and 25, 2018, covered the following topics: ‘Human Body: its parts and functions’, ‘Laws of Physics (flow of sound and light, gravitational force, weight, etc.)’ and the ‘Entire Solar System’.

Feedback

All the children thoroughly enjoyed this workshop as it was first time they experienced practical learning of topics related to Science.

AuroMirra’s Summer Camp

Sri Aurobindo Society, Rudrapur, organized a Summer Camp on ‘Conscious Living’ from June 7 to 16, 2018, at the Society premises at Kashipur Road in Rudrapur. Mrs. Manjari Khandelwal Kedia was the resource person and conducted the summer camp which was held every day for 4 hours. 

Some of the following activities were covered during the camp:

Always blossom like a flower; Differences between animals and human beings; What is Consciousness? How to be Conscious; Shadow and light is equal within you; Working of our mind; What is Soul? Video shared on anger management; What is the use of money? Why do we compare ourselves with others? What should be our attitude towards study? Not to waste food; Creating the Mother’s Symbol and so on.

Apart from all the activities, meditation, prayers with music and flower offerings to Sri Aurobindo and the Mother we also made. 

Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh

On the occasion of Guru Poornima on July 27, 2018, and inaugural class on Sri Gita–Ramayana was held at the Gwalior branch of Sri Aurobindo Society on July 29, 2018.

To chief guest of the event, attended by around 55 people, was Smt. Smita Dubay, a young teacher of Ramakrishna Vidya Mandir and part-time anchor in Akashvani, Gwalior.

Dr. S C Sharma made some PPT presentations educating the audience, specially children who attended the class, on the importance of ‘Guru’ in our life. He also explained the significance of key characters of the Gita and the Ramayana. Talking about Science and God, Dr. Sharma explained how inventions by a man (scientist) have the hidden power of God within him because a part of God is present in every human being. 

The chief guest appreciated the efforts made by SAS IOC, Gwalior, to bring awareness of Indian culture among the children.

Meanwhile on 8, 15 and 22 July, 2018, discussions on the Veda were held during the regular Sunday classes at the Gwalior branch at Maa Sarda Apartment. Dr. S C Sharma made PPT presentations on the topic, and at the end of the program on the 22nd, an article on Secrets of Veda, written by Sri B S Kushwaha, a retired DIG, was presented.
